Which is the villian, diet drinks or coffee?

Coffee is often thought to be a path that leads you directly to hell.  Diet drinks however are pimped out to us as the sweet savior in a weight watchers sugarless nightmare.  Yet a recent study based on 263,925 people may have put a twist in this story.

The study suggests that drinking 4 or more cans of diet soda a day increases your risk of developing depression by 30%.  Those who drank the same amount of fruit punch a day increased their risk of depression by 38%.  Yet interestingly enough those who drank 4 or more cups of unsweetened coffee a day were 10% less likely to develop depression.

So are the hero and villain rapidly switching places in your mind as you read this?  As far as the evil diet drinks are concerned that’s a good thing, however don’t go wolfing down coffee just yet.  Coffee is one of those substances that can be ok for some and play havoc with others.  Unfortunately I’m one of those who it wreaks havoc with, but for me the smell is half the pleasure anyway, so I’m happy just inhaling deeply as I sit in coffee shops sipping my green tea.

Just in case you forget who the real villain is, I wrote a little song for you, yes I know I’m multi talented what can I say.

Diet drinks and poison, they are both the same,
if you drink them, you will find yourself in lots of pain.

Hope you enjoyed this post and my little song, please feel free to share, or even record yourself singing the lyrics, I’d love to hear it go to number 1!

See you next Wednesday!

Love

  1. I got as far as the end of the first paragraph and went and bought a very large black coffee. Thanks for reaffirming my life choices!
